Pretty cool article on the nature of peace..."Peace Direct is an organization based in the UK that approaches conflict resolution in areas with frayed central governments, like Somalia, with an innovative approach they call “local first.” They use their outsider status to support organizations already working in conflict zones by helping them obtain funding and creating networks of support for them. Here Carolyn Hayman, Peace Direct’s CEO, talks with Dowser about the organization’s tactics, how they might apply to the Somali situation, why international conflict resolution should adopt the local first paradigm, and, on a timely and related note, what can be learned from the recent London riots."

FANTASTIC ORGANIC GARDENING & FARMING RESOURCE!! I just found out about Mother Earth New's Vegetable Garden Planner...http://gardenplanner.motherearthnews.com/gardenplanner/gardenplanner.html I will be using it with my students this week as we plan our garden. It has some amazing resources. You enter your location and the planner populates a list of growable produce that you pot out in a program. What I love is that it is so student friendly. Each plant has information about when to start/plant/harvest and the program populates a purchase list with planting instructions at the end. Free for 30 days! Enjoy!
